You’ve just finished a hard day at the office, or you’ve stepped off the plane to begin a gruelling business trip. Meetings back-to-back; the only free evening you have is tonight. The only thing that’s been keeping you going is the thought of her.
In the lift you can almost smell her perfume; you can almost taste her on your tongue. She’s already here.
You walk into the bar and see her. She’s reading her book while waiting for you, unaware of or unperturbed by the wolfish looks being thrown her way from men less lucky than you. Toned legs in expensive heels, one hanging off her toes as she kicks her leg gently back and forth against the bar stool. Firm, all-natural hourglass curves fit snugly into a smartly tailored black dress.
You come closer: she looks up. Her ash-blonde hair gleams in the low lighting. Her face – that face, young, adorable and sensual all at the same time, slightly Russian about the cheekbones – breaks into an open, welcoming smile as her large blue-green eyes fix on you, only you. She leans in to kiss you hello and you catch the scent of bergamot and jasmine.
You sit; the evening begins with a glass of wine. Initially you can’t keep your eyes off her and you lose track of what you’re saying several times, but as your conversation deepens she has you now with her charm, razor intellect and quick wit come to the fore. She fascinates you; you forget the time. In your real life you never have the luxury of forgetting the time.
Eventually she lays her hand on yours. Gives you the kind of look from under her long lashes that no man can mistake.
